英文原文Japanese operator SoftBank Corp revealed it would make its MWC Barcelona debut in 2027, backing the event as the ideal platform to showcase its transition to an AI powerhouse. SoftBank stated it would take its first full stand during the event in March 2027, a change from its previous representation on partner’s sites. President and CEO Junichi Miyakawa said SoftBank is “uniquely positioned to understand the challenges” operators face in deploying AI because it “pioneered our own” systems using the technology. He referred to the company as an “AI platformer”, which looks set to be among the key messaging on what SoftBank expects to be the biggest stand among fellow operators in Hall 3. The operator stated it has shifted from being a “traditional telecommunications carrier” into one which provides a “full-stack” of services spanning network infrastructure, energy systems and a range of AI developments including data centres and related compute capacity. SoftBank now wants to show other operators how they could put AI to use in their own overhauls. It plans to showcase its AI-native network, cloud platform and other infrastructure. Other elements to be covered include physical AI, and expanding network coverage and the range of connectivity across businesses, people and things. SoftBank also intends to showcase potential 6G technologies, HAPS and other non-terrestrial connectivity set-ups, and systems developed by software-defined vehicle specialist Cubic3.
