I have a 2008 R2 server running Hyper-V, and I have 2 VMs running on it. I have a third VM that I want to run, but I need to be able to get to it from the internet. I have a static IP address, and I have a block of 5 IPs that I can use. I have 2 NICs on the server, one is connected to the internet, and the other is connected to the LAN. I have one of the IPs from the block assigned to the server, and I want to assign one of the other IPs to the third VM. I have the virtual network set up as External, and I have the third VM connected to it. I have assigned the IP to the third VM, but I cannot ping it from the internet. I can ping the server from the internet, but not the third VM. I have the firewall turned off on the server, and I have the firewall turned off on the third VM. I have the gateway set to the IP of the server. What am I missing? Select all Open in new window Do more with You need to set up NAT (Network Address Translation) on the server. I have done that. I have set up NAT on the server. I have also added the IP to the server. I can ping the server from the internet, but not the VM. Can you post the output of "route print" from the server? The server is in a remote location, so I cannot get to it right now. I will have to get back to you on that. I figured it out. I had to add the MAC address of the third VM to the router.
